How To Deny Or Block IP Addresses
There can be multiple reasons that you may want to block an IP address. But two of the main reasons webmasters block IP’s from accessing their domain is spam and excessive use of bandwidth.
Depending on your webhosting provider bandwidth can be expensive or limited. If your webhosting budget is small, curtailing unnecessary bandwidth is important and will help cut down on expenses.
When you are trying to build traffic and submitting to search engines especially through automated software; you run the risk of inviting bots or spiders to crawl your site that will not increase your bottom line ROI (return on investment). Blocking IP’s is another way of controlling
website traffic. Eliminating traffic you do not want.
There are many bots and spiders that will find your domain naturally through following links from other sites and engines.
Some of these engines crawl frequently using excessive bandwidth and never send any traffic that you can gain a profit but do it at your expense.
This kind of activity you want to curtail.
